This work is the result of a 2 months residency in Carrara, where I went to seek contact with nature and study the marble stones.

There nature is unleashed; huge white mountains, fractured, wounded, exposed to the sunlight and all the elements. Despite the overwhelming scale and the beauty of such landscape,  every element speaks of pain and fury. Every line in these mountains resembled pain. Every crack seemed to be shouting at me with violence. Somehow it seemed that the whole humanity was in these mountains too; the human body, its flesh, its vulnerability. I felt humbled and felt a deep sense of belonging and profound religiousness.

Being in the belly of the mountain, breathing with it, sliding through its depth has been one of the most visceral experiences I have ever lived.
It felt as if I had returned to the mother, coming down to the core of life itself.
I walked on its edges, feeling each crack underneath my feet. The sound of the water dripping echoed my steps, amplifying the loneliness that you can only experience in such space.

This constant tension between beauty and violence, life and death, destruction and creation showed not the absence of life but new possibilities.
