Tzules y Maryliz

There is a narrow street just out of Antigua that leads to a tiny house made of stones, built in proximity of an active volcano. There is a wide, empty fountain in front of the house, surrounded by wild vegetation. There lives Tzules Sunun. She is a shaman who still lives according to the ancient Mayan traditions. She is descendent from a long lineage of healers and spiritists.

Bare flesh covered in soil, a wild garden, earth washed away by agua ardiente and blessed by a warm tropical rain.

Shot in Antigua, Guatemala, on the 7th of September, a day known as The Day of The Snake on the Mayan calendar.
